Is CityCompanion free?

Yes, fully free. No in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads. We may add optional premium features in the future, but the core walking tours, narrations, briefings, and food guides will stay free.

Do I need to install an app?

No. CityCompanion is a Progressive Web App (PWA) — it runs in your browser. You can add it to your phone's home screen for a native-app-like experience, but you don't have to.

Which cities are supported?

London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Vienna, Barcelona, Tokyo, Bangkok, and Hong Kong. Each has hundreds of curated POIs, multiple cultural hunts, and local food signatures.

What languages does it speak?

English, German, Italian, Spanish, and Chinese. The morning briefing, narrations, and UI all switch with your language preference.

How is this different from Google Maps?

Google Maps gets you from A to B. CityCompanion tells you why A and B matter, finds the surprising places in between, narrates the stories aloud as you walk, and ties everything into a coherent day.

How is this different from GPSmyCity or izi.TRAVEL?

CityCompanion is free (most of those apps charge per city). It's AI-personalised — routes adapt to your interests, pace, and the weather, rather than serving the same fixed playlist to every visitor. And it has the daily concierge briefing, which no other tour app offers.

Can I use it offline?

Yes. Maps and saved tours are cached for offline use. Audio narrations can be downloaded ahead of time so you can walk without data.

How does the morning briefing work?

If you opt in during onboarding (or in settings), CityCompanion generates a 1–5 minute personalised audio briefing each morning at the time you choose. It greets you by name, covers today's weather and a practical tip, mentions a local food signature, and previews your day.

What if I'm in a city CityCompanion doesn't cover?

The briefing still works — it'll greet you, cover your local weather, and (if you have an upcoming trip) mention what's ahead. The full curated tour experience is limited to the 9 supported cities.

Does it work for accessibility needs?

Yes. Routes can be filtered for wheelchair-accessible, step-free, stroller-friendly, or reduced-mobility paths. POIs are tagged accordingly.

How is my data used?

We use your interests and tour history to personalise your future tours. We don't sell or share your data. You can delete your account at any time.

Can businesses or local guides contribute?

Yes — local editors can apply for permissions to add and curate POIs in their city. Event organizers can submit concerts, exhibitions, and pop-ups (vetting workflow). Contact us through the feedback page.
